Joe Tash, Author of Dear Guests, Beware of Wild Monkeys

Learn how to plan and execute a family trip around the world, including how to choose an itinerary, purchase
round-the-world tickets, select the right clothing and gear, arrange for home-schooling, find the best travel and
health insurance, rent out the family house and handle finances from the road. Joe will bring readers along for
the best of his family travel experiences in South America, Western and Eastern Europe, India, Thailand, Cambodia,
Hong Kong and Tokyo. Joe Tash is an award-winning journalist, who writes for numerous publications and websites.
He and his wife and 8-year-old daughter traveled around the world in 2005 and 2006. His book, Dear Guests, Beware of
Wild Monkeys, is both a travelogue and a practical guide to global adventure
for families with children.



 

First Sunday Music Series-  February

Skelpin

Skelpin performs a fusion of Irish music and Spanish Flamenco, with Middle-Eastern percussion.Skelpin is associated with the“Greening of the Gaslamp,” a movement of increased Irish culture in the San Diego area. Skelpin also performs each year at the World Music Festival on Catalina Island, held at the end October.

Seating is limited to chairs in room ONLY. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.

Additional parking available at City Hall.

Free to the public.

Dr. Nigella Hillgarth

Executive Director of Birch Aquarium

Join us for an evening with Dr. Hillgarth as she shares her knowledge on the health of our oceans. Dr. Nigella Hillgarth is executive director of Birch Aquarium at Scripps, the public exploration center of world-renowned Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego. She is a distinguished zoologist who came to the institution in 2002. Exhibits developed and installed under Hillgarth’s direction include the award-winning Feeling the Heat: The Climate Challenge, the ever-popular There’s Something About Seahorses, and the new Boundless Energy, which celebrates innovative ways we can use natural forces to power our lives. Dr. Hillgarth’s work extends far beyond her everyday guidance of Birch Aquarium.The San Diego Soroptomists have recognized her with its Woman of Accomplishment Award, and San Diego Metropolitan Magazine named her a “Metro Mover to Watch.”  Refreshments will be served before the lecture.
